Halloween Guest Blog and Giveaway with Jacqueline paige

Is it strange I prefer to write paranormal?

The answer—no!

Writing the Halloween themed Behind the Mask in my Curses book was hard to do in such a short version. I could have taken it on for hundreds of pages, but had to go through and shorten it— a lot!

I’m not big on holidays at all, except for one which in my opinion should be celebrated for at least week and not just one day. Halloween! Yes, that is my Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving all rolled into one.

Our house in October is a constant discussion on what we’re going to do this year. We have an entire storage room filled with the decorations and props. Our whole house is decorated, every single window included. For Christmas we usually decorated the tree with Halloween decorations and wrap it in cobwebs. (I’m not at all certain why our neighbours think us strange and their children think we’re cool ...)

For Halloween we set it all up on the 31st and take it all down on the 31st. Our house is the one the parents of the trick-or-treaters stop to admire. We’re not big on the electronic monsters out there, no most of ours is good ‘ol fashion handmade creations. Our lawn is a complex graveyard, our walk way you’re afraid to step on and if you do make it to the dark rag covered porch with the fog billowing out of it ... well, let’s just say you better be careful where you step and do not assume any decorations or statues are made of plastic and not warm flesh. Having five children to be a part of the decor leaves plenty of room for surprises.

I do however walk out to the street and meet the wee ones in their adorable costumes with their treats. Very few have braved the walk to the door.

Now I’m all excited and can’t wait!

This year we’ve decided to change it up a little and the witch, dark lord and zombie costumes have been kept packed away for another year. We’ve decided to mix it up this year and the guests of our haunted realm will be a lovely but deadly Victorian Vampire in her gown, a doctor that’s turned werewolf (and not the fuzzy sexy kind), a sexy little red riding hood in her zombie state after the big bad wolf won, a six foot five grim reaper, a living dead solider and this year we have Jack Skellington from the Nightmare Before Christmas hosting our yard of horrors.
Only twelve more days to wait!!!

May all of your Halloween fantasies come true :-)

IN OUR DREAM

She’s a small town cop. He’s an inmate undercover. They meet in a dream.

Blurb

Jennah Best left the adrenaline packed life of being a cop on the edge for a more peaceful place. She escaped a marriage that almost destroyed her and now lives her life working for a small police station in the town of Ridge. At her age, she’s accepted that it’s too late and too much work to start all over again, until she meets a man in a dream...

While young, Dominic Palmer has always proven he can get the job done. Or at least, that was the case before he accepted a job and agreed to go undercover as an inmate. When months go by and there’s no word from his outside contact he wonders if he’s been left on the inside for good. He’s fighting to stay alive and keep his sanity, but finds himself completely distracted by a mysterious woman he met in a dream...

FROM A DREAM

She wakes up in a dark hole, alone. He’ll stop at nothing to find her.

Blurb:

Jennah has found happiness. She wasn’t looking for it but isn’t about to give it up now that she has it. Everything she craved for years was now right in front of her--a man that makes her feel cherished, a peaceful life, and a job she enjoys. It all changes when she wakes up in a dark hole, alone, unarmed and unable to connect with the one man she’s grown to need.

Dominic realizes he is one of those men that wants the whole package of marriage and a family, and he’s found the woman to have that with. He’s going stir crazy having to stay hidden until the leader of a criminal organization is caught, but he’s more than willing to stay right here with her.

All of his plans evaporate when a vindictive criminal takes her from him as a hostage. He won’t rest until she’s in his arms again.

AFTER THE DREAM

Brody believes he’s a normal man. Tess has felt like a freak most of her life- except when she’s around one man.

Blurb AFTER THE DREAM

Feeling less then worthy as a normal man surrounded by a team with special skills, Brody has to wonder why he’s a part of it. If it weren’t for one team mate being there, he’d transfer back to normalcy.

Tess has always felt like a freak, even surrounded by others that are different she still feels like an outsider. Only one of her team mates make her feel like an everyday person.

Thanks for stopping by, MNJ.

Our dog gets a costume too - not that she leaves it on. Dog biscuits are also handed out to those pets accompanying their trick-or-treaters.

Now if I could find a way to control the weather it would be perfect - they're saying that s-n-o-w word.
gasp!

I want to visit you for Halloween LOL Sounds like my type of place I'd love to trick or treat at. We live out in the country so no trick or treaters but we grow our own pumpkins and have a big pumpkin carving night at the house and we decorate with all kinds of Halloween fun. I am slowly acquiring more Halloween decorations each year-soon I will more Halloween than Christmas decorations.

I know that feeling, Roxanne. The day after Halloween is like boxing day shopping in our house.
When we lived in the country we decorated a friend's house in town.
This year we added a bigger ground fogger, so hopefully the wind will co-operate for us.

You know the famous chick-flick line ... "I'll have what she's having"? Well, I feel that way about Jacqueline's work ethic--man, you do all that writing and have five children! Amazing! I had the pleasure of reading Jacqueline's novel in 2009, at the beginning of her publishing life. Both Dreams and Curses sound fascinating; I try to keep a notebook by my bed to capture dream remnants and think dreams are very important to our waking lives. Best of luck on the book tour, Jacqueline! ~Leigh~
