Do
you have a specific writing style?
I don’t think I have a specific style, but I do love
to have strong heroines who have flaws. I think readers can relate better if
the heroine isn’t always a skinny, beautiful virgin. Of course, those are fun
to write, too.
Do
you write in different genres?
Yes! I read several different genres, and my writing
has followed. I have a young adult (paranormal romance) book out, which is the
start of a four-part series, and I write contemporary and paranormal erotic
romance. I am also in the outlining phase of my first m/m erotic series.
If
yes which is your favorite genre to write?
Eeeek. That’s tough. Honestly, it depends on my
mood. Paranormal can be easy because if you need to speak telepathically or
time-travel, then bam… you can. But then it can be difficult when you create
new worlds because you have to keep everything in line. Contemporary is fun
because my heroines tend to be moody. I love writing people with attitudes.
How
did you come up with the title for your latest book?
The Woods Family series is a group of books that
started with Surrounded by Woods. I’d
considered doing a play on ‘Woods’ for the entire series, but decided to use
‘Surrounded’ instead. In this book, the heroine, Ariel, is a biochemist who
must tempt our hero, Rob, to the brink of his sanity. The title, Surrounded by Temptation, felt
immediately right. Sometimes you just know right away.
Do
you title the book first or wait until after it’s complete?
I like to do a lot of prep work in the beginning,
and that includes titling the book. But just like my outline might change or
the ending be completely different than what I’d outlined, the title can also
change. Doing the grunt work first helps keep me focused while I draft, but
it’s not so stringent that it keeps the characters from find their own way.
It’s a nice balance.
What
book are you reading now?
I just finished Dark
Lover, Book 1 in J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Yes, I know
it’s several years old, but I’ve been on an m/m kick for a while. I’ll be
downloading book 2 after this interview. ;-)
What
is your current “work in progress” or upcoming projects?
Book 4 in the Woods Family series, Surrounded by Secrets, has just been
accepted, so I’ll begin edits on it soon. I can’t wait for it to come out!
Questions from the beginning will finally be answered.
Who
designed the cover of your latest book?
Elaina Lee
with www.forthemusedesign.com.
I love her work. She has designed every book cover for this series, so when I
wrote a short story about the brother Eric and self-published it (Surrounded by
Death), I contacted her to do it. I also hired her to do the banner for my
website. She’s awesome.
Do
you have any advice for other writers?
Never give up. Every editor and publisher has a
different opinion on what they want. Just because your work gets rejected
doesn’t mean it’s not worthy of being published. Keep trying. Never give up.

When Krista needs Ariel’s biochemical expertise because her new boyfriend can turn into a mountain lion, Ariel thinks her sister has lost her mind. But the possibility of a major discovery like this is too much of a temptation to ignore. Create a drug to stop a shifter from forcing a mating? Only if she got to test his sexual limits herself.
Rob thinks Ariel is an angel in disguise, and he immediately knows she’s the one for him. But is he strong enough to resist his animal’s need to claim her once the temptation begins?
