Do you write in different genres?
In addition to paranormal romance I also write space
opera romance and fantasy romance. The first book in my space opera, Nightfall, is currently available from
Samhain, and I’m working on the other two books in the trilogy. My writing
always tends to have magic and swords in it, whether it’s set in Chicago or
outer space.
If yes which is your favorite genre to write?
I can’t pick a favorite. I’d say my roots are in
fantasy, because the first novel I wrote was fantasy. I started it in eighth
grade, and it was awful. There were unicorns. My writing has come a long way
since then, but I still enjoy having a dragon show up and cause chaos.
How did you come up with the title for your latest
book?
It was a tie between Last Summoner Standing and Fire
in the Blood. I was torn between the two titles, and even my beta readers
were split down the middle. My editor finally decided on Fire in the Blood as the final title, and I think it was the right
choice. It refers to the fact that Patience is descended from a fire faerie,
and has a natural affinity for the element.
Is the book, characters, or any scenes based on a true
life experience, someone you know, or events in your own life?
The character Mac was inspired by my friend Scott.
Our mutual friends who have read the series spot the similarities pretty
quickly, and he gets a kick out of it. I will occasionally name characters
after real people. I used to have the “Careful or you’ll end up in my novel”
T-shirt, and that’s a fair warning, because I have turned people into villains
in my series.
What book are you reading now?
I recently tore through The Prince by Tiffany Reisz and Reflected
in You by Sylvia Day. They were so good, and I’m dying for the next book in
each of those series. I’m pretty active on Goodreads, so that’s a good place to
see what I’m reading. I enjoying being able to share what I’ve read and why I
loved it.
What books are in your to read pile?
I have an entire To Be Read bookcase. I try to read
as much as I can, but I tend to fall behind when I’m working on a project. I’m
able to squeeze in a few minutes on the bus on my way to and from work, and
that helps. Right now I’m behind in the Dresden Files and the Women of the
Otherworld.
What is your current “work in progress” or upcoming projects?
I have a second Emily book, Poison in the Blood, releasing in late summer. Emily is a recurring
character in the Bad Witch books, and The
Importance of Being Emily is a sort of prequel set in Victorian England,
telling the tale of how she met her husband Michael before he became a vampire.
Poison in the Blood picks up a few
years later and explains how she became a vampire as well, along with a bit of
matchmaking and murder investigating.
Is there anything you find particularly challenging
in your writing?
I learn something new with each book, and I hope
that my writing is improving along the way. I love fight scenes in theory, but
I struggle with writing them—they almost always are added last. I tend to put
things in brackets when I get stuck on something. Like [more fight scene here].
Or someone will be named [Evil McEvilson] until I find the right name.
Who designed the cover of your latest book?
All my book covers, both for the Bad Witch books and
my Cy’ren Rising series, have been designed by Kanaxa, and she does awesome
work. I love her covers. I feel very fortunate to be able to work with her.

Warning: Contains a hero and heroine so hot they’re literally on fire, naughty faerie sex, post-coital cuteness, angsty magician drama, and yet more gratuitous violence against vampires, demons, and innocent furniture.
About the Author:
Robyn Bachar was born and raised in Berwyn, Illinois, and loves all things related to Chicago, from the Cubs to the pizza. It seemed only natural to combine it with her love of fantasy, and tell stories of witches and vampires in the Chicagoland area. As a gamer, Robyn has spent many hours rolling dice, playing rock-paper-scissors, and slaying creatures in MMPORGs.

Sounds like a great book. I wonder if I should get the first books before this one.

I always encourage everyone to buy all of my books. ;) But if you were looking to give the series a try, this is an easy place to start. There's even a key terms list to explain how the world building works. :)
I would definitely have to start at the beginning. My OCD wouldn't allow me to begin anywhere else. I am pretty new to the Sci-Fi genre and this series is definitely going on the TBR list. Thanks so much for sharing and for the giveaway.
Best wishes,
Marlena
