SPARK A REVOLUTION! with Michelle Cornwell-Jordan

SPARK A REVOLUTION!
“Marketing with Meaning”
Michelle Cornwell-Jordan

Sometimes to get noticed or to create change, you have to start a revolution. It can begin with something innocent, a word here or there…but such an innocent spark can begin a raging inferno. Now of course, you would want this to be something positive, especially when it all comes together…

Strange intro I know, but when planning strategic maneuvers, then sometimes being slightly random works in your favor. Now, what does this entire passage have to do with writing, publishing, and marketing? Well, everything. Now I am not an expert on marketing, I am still wet behind the ears. But what I have noted since working out here in the trenches is that actually the most you can hope for from the reviews, and the promos, and the tours, and the on-slaught of media frenzy, is exposure. Pretty much that’s it, no matter if you are a traditional publisher/author, or a tenacious Indie…the boon at the end of the parades, and twitter parties are exposure.

A reader will read what they want and what they like, or think they will like. So there is a very slim window of opportunity to convince the reader that “hey, you will like my book.”

So, yes writing a good book, one that has had professional attention in regards to cover and editing, along with  the dedication to produce the best product that you can deliver; with marketing, the result will most likely be of someone actually buying and reading your story!

There are many wonderful seminars, webinars, posts, and articles beginning to crop up on marketing and techniques. Which I believe is wonderful.

But in my humble opinion the utmost important element in marketing is passion.

Probably whatever you have written about is your passion, directed towards an audience of other like-minded passionate individuals regarding the same subject….

So…wait for it…wait for it…

In marketing talk about that! The “it” you are passionate about. Whatever the subject,…science, romance, techie, business; and probably there is some type of controversy or “need” attached to that topic, talk about that; and then allow YOUR book to become the “go-to” reference or example!

Now I will admit, this type of marketing is much more subtle, so I would say it does need to be coupled with more direct means of saying “Please Read”.

But if you start a discussion, an event, a cause, or become involved in activities relating to your book, then that is a wonderful way to have a little word of mouth to get started, to have fun and to get your revolution started!

Now, I am not meaning to say become part of a cause, just as a means to get your books to sell. No, first that is not a good practice, and can be unfair to those involved in the group, if you have not been sincere regarding your motives.

Plus to be honest, an individual will not remain attached to the activity, cause or event for the long haul, if intentions are not pure; especially if your books are not selling, or not selling as quickly as you like. There must be another motive, deeper more substantial in place than simply a desire to sell.

So, focus on true passions, and find a way to relate your books to that passion, but always be honest to yourself and others why you are involved…then get involved, jump in, and have fun, soon your book will be noticed, and your activities will spark the word of mouth!

The Alliance Initiative (Community Service Initiative)

Hello Hunter Fans! Today I am filling you in on a couple of new projects that are being launched in the Hunters Fan Club. There are several young Hunters in the group (well, I know we all are young, like me...I try to be young at heart!;o)

But there are several members that fit into the age range of 11 years old- 19years old! So mainly these new programs are for you!

The first is The Alliance Initiative which is based on the Supernatural organization that is hinted about in the First Night School Vampire Hunter, frustrates Angel in the second and will be a primary topic in the upcoming third novella!

The Alliance is the organization in the Night School Vampire Hunter Trilogy/Hunter Novella series, that nurtures and trains young hunters to fight against evil. Also, its members act as Guardians and protectors over their community, lending a hand when necessary!

Well, this was the inspiration for the Alliance Initiative Project. Here in my local area, the ground work is being laid to begin the very first Hunters Alliance of Texas...which will act as Community Service Club of the Hunter Series Fan Club. My hope is that it will launch at the end of January/Beginning of Feb. 2013!

Also, my hope that this will spark Hunter Series Fan Club Members to go out and start their own Hunter Alliance club! See the Hunters Series Fan Club is NOT just a book club...but hopefully will reflect the spirit and courage that Angel and her friends exhibit in the Night School Vampire Hunter Trilogy Novellas.

When our local group is launched, we will strive to locate needs to be filled in our area, and hopefully I will hear of other Hunter Fans around the country doing the same!

So to help...I will be setting up a reward system for all those who participate in the Alliance Initiative! There are ways for your group and you individually to win prizes and awards...plus recognition :)

First all Hunter Alliance club members will have the pictures of their group service projects displayed here on the Hunters Series Fan Club Face Book page and also in Goodreads group!

Monthly: Each Group that submits the name of a project and the photographs of the activities will have their group's members names... placed in a raffle to win a $25.00 Amazon Gift Card or ITunes card!

Free EBooks donated by the Hunter Allies...authors that will donate a copy of their books for giveaway

There will be opportunities to win small scholarships offered by Angel Donations...

And so much more!

Plus the fact the fact you know that you are helping...well...you will get your very own Hunter's pins, that proclaims YOU ROCK!:)

The Alliance Rankings
Typically
Primaries (5th-8th grade)
Hunters (9th-10th)
Guardians (11th-12th)
And The Coalition (College and Adults)

These rankings are general...anyone can move up...meaning if you are in 5th grade...but you Interact in (3 or more)a service projects...then you can move to Hunter...if you are a 8th grader and INITIATE and OVERSEE (3 or more) service projects you then can become a Guardian.

Only those 18 years and older and have completed ALL levels can be of the Coalition!

(***So YES, Adults can be Primaries!:O)****

So there you have it...will you catch the Hunter spirit? Will you walk in the Hunter
motto....Faith...Loyalty and Service?
