Interview and GIveaway with N Dunham

What inspired you to become an author?

I have always had ideas of stories that I would enjoy reading.  One day I just put the pen to paper and out popped Visionary.

How did you come up with the title for your latest book?

At first I had the name “The Gift” picked out, but then Visionary just kind of snuck in there and took its place.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

I wouldn’t say that there is any direct message, but I think this book makes readers realize that we are all connected to nature in some way. I love nature and wild life and hopefully this book encourages others to respect nature and marvel at its beauty.

Is the book, characters, or any scenes based on a true life experience, someone you know, or events in your own life?

No. This is purely fun fiction.

What books/authors have influenced your life?

I enjoy so many works and genres that is unfair to pick only a few.  I have enjoyed JK Rowling, Suzanne Collins, Ken Follet, Nicholas Sparks, Stephanie Meyer and more.

What books are in your to read pile?

There are so many that it’s impossible to name them all.  There are at least nine fiction books I would love to start and two non-fiction that are on my list.

What is your current “work in progress” or upcoming projects?

I am currently working on book 2 of the Visionary Trilogy and I hope to have it released by late summer.

Can you share a little of your current work with us?

Visionary-Unleashed is book1 in a young adult trilogy series.  Sixteen year-old Aislinn Lee Murphy accidentally unleashes her hidden ability to see things before they happen, making her a Visonary.

While trying to understand and accept this incredible gift, she runs into the handsome Sebastian, a fellow visionary.  Sebastian introduces Aislinn to other visionaries and has a habit of saving her from precarious situations, such as the secret agency, whose sole mission is to terminate all visionaries.

While trying to remain alive, Aislinn learns that visionaries can have one of twelve spirit animals based on the zodiac. However, Aislinn feels that she may have one of the three very rare spirit animals meaning that her life may be even more challenged.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Finding the time to do it.  I wish I had more time!

Do you have any advice for other writers?

Just tell your story!

Do you have a song or playlist (book soundtrack) that you think represents this book?

Well on my website www.ndunham.com you will hear “Skyfall” by Adele. I absolutely adore that song and I think it fits perfectly with the tone of the book.

During the karaoke scene with Aislinn and Caleb, “Just a Girl” by No Doubt, “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith, a Black Eyed Peas song and more are presented!
I definitely feel that music and books go together.  It’s like they influence each otherJ

Be sure to check out my website www.ndunham.com and find out what your spirit animal is!

Thank you so much for this awesome interview. It has been a total blast!
