Roxanne,
thank you so much for having me! I thought I would start with the last question
first... (Thanks for being here, Susan ;-)
Is
there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
Getting organized, lol. And to
add insult to injury, after 15 or 16 years of writing, I discovered this
weekend, or maybe just admitted to myself, I'm a “plotter”. I've always taken
great pride in being a “pantser”, someone who writes by the seat of her pants.
It's no wonder I can't write the story until I get all my ducks in a row.
What
is your current “work in progress” or upcoming projects?
My current “wip” is Book II of
the Dragonkind Chronicles, Dragon's Keeper. For those of you who have
read Dragon's Thief, this is Carlton Pen's story. He's the youngest
quint born to Dragon Elder Daniel Pen, and Abigayle, the love of his heart, who
is also a very talented witch. Carlton's dragon has been taken from him. Part
of his journey is finding and reuniting with the great beast.
Can
you share a little of your current work with us?
This is from my research:
Isten means God in Hungarian. He controls the world, shapes the fate of humans,
observes the Middle World from the sky, and sometimes gives warning by
lightning. He is also our heroine, Sage
Turul's grandfather. She has made a promise to him to hold the Phoenix's power
of rebirth until Mother Earth needs them to usher in the thousand years of
peace. But of course you know, it's not going to be that simple.
What
book are you currently reading?
Angelology by Danielle Trussoni, and I'm re-reading Harry Potter And
The Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling.
Do
you write in different genres?
I write contemporary romance, women's fiction, and now this post apocalyptic
paranormal/fantasy romance. There are five books in this series, and I'd like
to do a novella for Daniel and Abigayle's romance. I'll be happily writing
about the dragonkind for awhile. After that I'm thinking about an urban fantasy
set in Las Vegas.
Is
there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
No matter what genre I write,
my stories are always about family, community and the journey home. This is
especially true for Dragon's Thief. Overcoming obstacles and finding
family are the hardest things we will do in our lifetimes, but also the most
rewarding.
Is
the book, characters, or any scenes based on a true life experience, someone
you know, or events in your own life?
Authors always put a lot of themselves into their stories, but I'd have to say
Idella comes the closest of any character I've written to being the most like
me...I think. She's not in her prime, cares deeply about the Pens - our
dragonkind family, and she'll do what she must to protect them.
What
book/authors have influenced your life?
Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach, and
The Way Of The Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman. There are others, but these two
have made the most profound impact.

Barrie
Hi Katie :) Thanks! I didn't really know what I was getting into when I started writing about this dragon family, but it is so much fun. Doing the cover was the icing on the cake :)
Barrie, nice to see you again :) I visited twice, day trips, and you're right. It would be the perfect place to spend a week, two, a month. The Roman baths are incredible.
