1.
Do you write in different genres?
I write both
contemporary and paranormal romance. My first two releases have been
contemporary, but my first paranormal titled Cupcakes at Midnight is due out
later this year.
2.
If yes which is your favorite genre
to write?
They’re both my
favorites for now. They both challenge and push me to do my best. I’m also not
the type of author who believes that genre limits your voice. I tend to include
a lot of humor in my stories, and I think regardless of genre, that would still
shine through.
3.
What book are you reading now?
I always have a
few books that I read at once. depending on my mood and if I I’m in the mood
for something funny, sweet, spicy or all of the above. Currently I’m reading
Ann Mayburn’s Guarding Hope and Lorelei James’ Redneck Romeo.
4.
What books are in your to read
pile?
Argh! Too many!
Thayer King’s Writincg Witchy and T.A Grey’s Chains of Frost are next in my tbr
pile. Those author’s both have such a great voice I’m always eager to read more
from them
5.
Can you share a little of your
current work with us?
Gladly! My
latest book is title Persuasion skills and is the story of Pepper Jax. These
two are both best friends and business partners, who are struggling to define
their relationship after a sharing one night of passion together. Pepper is
intent on returning to the status quo while Jax is more than willing to see
where this new facet will take them.
I had a blast
bringing these two characters together. They share a long and deep relationship,
and mixing romance into it was so much fun. Especially since Jax’s character is
the ultimate schemer and has no problems in fighting dirty to get what he
wants, which is Pepper in his life and bed forever.
6.
Is there anything you find particularly
challenging in your writing?
One of my
biggest struggles is clean writing. And by clean I don’t mean eliminating
erotic scenes. I mean writing concise yet descriptive scenes. I tend to get
very flowery and let the purple prose monster come out to play, So when ever I’m
finished with a book I let it “rest” for a week or so before sitting down to
edit. It gives me a fresh perspective, and I’m more likely to start marking
up with my red pen.
7.
Do you have to travel much to do
research for your books?
I love to travel, and
whenever I go to a new place or meet new people I try to jot down notes. However, the old adage is always
true, write what you know. So a lot of my stories tend to feature characters
living in Florida or in tech and science related fields because that’s what I
know and am currently the most comfortable writing.
8.
Who designed the cover of your
latest book?
Sour Cherry
Designs. They do all of the designs for my publisher, Evernight, and I couldn’t
be happier with the final product. The cover is exactly as I pictured in my
head when I finished the book, and somehow Sour Cherry was was able to read my
mind and produce an amazing cover.

Book Description:
In the aftermath of a major health scare, Pepper Holts makes the relief-inspired decision to seize the day. Unfortunately, most of her “seizing” involves a bit of merlot and her best friend's pants! After a shared night of passion she realizes that her feelings for Jax are a lot more complicated than she ever thought.
Jax has finally realized that his allergy to marriage has nothing to do with the institution itself, and everything to do with the women in his bed—or more specifically, the one woman not in his bed. Her reaction to their one night together has him scrambling to regroup. So he does what he knows best—he disappears, and he thinks. The plan?—convince Pepper into staying with him at a secluded cabin for one week. One week of pretending to be a happily married couple to show her how great they could be together.
About the Author:
Laurel is a romance author, who like most writers loves to read. Her first love (pun intended) has always been romance. From the sappy YA romance novel to the more risqué erotica novels, Laurel is a sucker for a good love story.
Laurel writes paranormal and contemporary romance and is a self proclaimed, out of the closet nerd. She admits that she can't seem to avoid adding a bit of "nerdology" or "geek-dom" to all of her books. Living in Miami, she also admits that she can't seem to avoid giving her heroines gorgeous shoes, "In Miami, we worship everything strappy, open toed and just plain hot!"
