Do you write in different genres?
So far I’ve only written fantasy. I have considered
writing historical fiction as well.
How did you come up with the title for your latest
book?
War
of the Wildlands was a pretty easy title to come up
with. After all, the plot takes place during a war between humans and elves in
the area known as the Wildlands.
Do you title the book first or wait until after it’s
complete?
So far, I’ve had the titles in place before the
novels were finished. I did have notes and scenes written before titling them,
though.
Is there a message in your novel that you want
readers to grasp?
My latest novel, War
of the Wildlands, has an underlying theme of deforestation. This is a
subject I am passionate about, and I hope my readers will understand that the
forests are a valuable asset to our world. Maybe I will inspire someone to take
action.
What books/authors have influenced your life?
I have been heavily influenced by both Mark Twain
and JRR Tolkien. Those two men vary greatly from each other, but they were both
so passionate about what they wrote. Their words speak to me more than any other
author I’ve read. Twain’s love of the river helps inspire my love of nature,
while Tolkien’s magical world inspires me to dream. Both of them are very dear
to my heart.
What is your current “work in progress” or upcoming
projects?
I am currently working on a third novel entitled Source of the River. I also hope to
complete and publish a handful of short stories.
Is there anything you find particularly challenging
in your writing?
The hardest part seems to be writing the summary.
After years of working on my novels, it’s difficult to sum them up in a single
paragraph.
Who designed the cover of your latest book?
I am pleased to give credit to Michael Gauss for the
cover art. He is an amazingly talented fantasy artist. You can find his work on
deviant art. http://helmuttt.deviantart.com/
Do you have any advice for other writers?
Start writing now. Don’t keep putting it off.
Everyone makes excuses and says there isn’t time. Take the time and get
started. You won’t regret it.

Unrelenting war between humans and elves threatens to destroy the forest forever.
A tyrant king has declared war on the elves and will stop at nothing to see them annihilated. Despite fighting savagely to defend their homes, the elves are outmatched by vicious attacks from highly skilled battle mages. The elven clans must join forces to have any chance of survival against the ruthless king’s army.
Meanwhile, a young half-elf is forced from the human world he has always known and travels into the Wildlands to seek out his elven kin. Along the way, he learns to draw on the magic within himself to craft weapons of tremendous power. When war arrives on his doorstep, he must choose whether to stand with the family he has always known or the elves who share his blood.
