2: Do you have a specific writing style?
I tend to write as I or my characters speak. I am
prone to long flourishes of description and dialogue/monologues which I try to
blend in a way that my readers can be immersed by the work for at least a
while...
3: How did you come up with the title for your
latest book?
As I have many of my titles, like some films, the
title is a series of words or a phrase that occurs within the pages.
4: Is there a message in your novel that you want
readers to grasp?
Tolerance? Acceptance, the stages of death and dying? My work
could be analyzed from several angles, but you know... Sometimes when and
author says the curtains are blue, we mean just that... If a reader takes something more from the
work, and it betters their understanding of themself or another then I am a
happy clam....
5: Is the book, characters, or any scenes based on a
true life experience, someone you know, or events in your own life?
Most if not
all of my characters show signs of those whose lives have touched my own if only
in essence. Will I point them out, no, but if you know me and see something of
yourself.. Well it could be.
6: Is there anything you find particularly
challenging in your writing?
Not coming off like a pompous ass? Seriously, I can
sometimes get a wee bit grandiose in my word usage, I chock it up to years of
copying the dictionary in grade school. *devilish grin* Innocent whistle*
7: Who designed the cover of your latest book?
I did, initially, then fellow Author Eri Nelson
played with the fonts and manipulated another of my images, semi-imposing it
into the background.. The end result is the beauty you seen now. I started off
drawing them, as I do not do stock work.
8: Can you share a little of your current work with
us?
Sure, while the second in the series In Dreams... The Unavoidable Road
is also out now, I would be happy to share a small excerpt from In Dreams...
The Savage Road... Which I am currently half way through.
The room was dark as she led him inside; she crossed it,
opening a large set of curtains, bathing the room in the mid-day light. The
walls were covered in pale green paint, resembling the underside of an Oak
leaf. They were paneled so that the exposed logs in the rest of the place could
not be seen. The draft of the previous room, his only problem in fact, solved
by it. The bed sat to his right, as the girl removed the sheet that covered it,
he saw that it had a thick white comforter folded neatly on it.
“It will only take me a minuet to settle things up.
Everything is clean; we just don’t have often use for this room.” She
half-frowned now. ‘Not in many a year… fortunately.’
‘Fortunately?’ He
cleared his throat. “Not a problem.” Leaning against the wall, he closed the
door behind him.
This room, along with a bed and window had its own
fireplace, a replica of the one he had been shown on the first floor. In front
of it was a large over stuffed chair of chestnut brown with clawed wooden feet,
it looked as though it would run off if provoked. He laughed slightly to
himself, looking at the girl as she uncovered the wooden writing desk and next
to it a standing piano. As she pulled the last sheet, her hair was pushed back
from her face by the movement. Morgan spied briefly, why the girl kept her face
in the shadow of her hair. A deep scar crossed her face, though he could not
see quite how far or much.
‘I thought they didn’t do scars?’ Shifting
in place, he looked at her, the question lingering.
She looked up at him and around the room. “Is this
sufficient?” She asked nervously. Finally noticing that he had closed the door
and was now standing between it and her.
“Its fine, I hope you won’t get into trouble for this…
Kindness.” Her alarming thoughts of a lashing drove his words.
“That makes two of us then.” She turned crossing his
left, poking her head into the bathroom door. “I’ll just get you some fresh
towels and you’ll be all set.” She zigzagged to pass him, headed for the door
to leave. “Um, there’s a chord there by the bed, if you need anything someone
will come, just pull on it.” She reached for the doorknob as Morgan reached out
grabbing her wrist gently.
She flinched. ‘Please,
don’t hurt me.’
He frowned at her panicked thought as he lifted her chin.
“May I?” He asked softly as he moved the hair from her face, uncovering what
she had been unconsciously and yet instinctively hiding. Across her left cheek
and down her jaw was a deeply raised scar, it started by her dark brown eye and
ended just shy of her thin light pink lips. “What happened?” It pained him to
think that someone had done such a thing to an otherwise very pretty young
woman.
Her eyes were pained as he asked the question. ‘There’s
kindness there.’ She relaxed some, turning her face so that his
hand no longer touched her. “I-It was an accident, when I was just a child.”
‘You’re still just a child.’
“I… Fell... Out of a tree in the grove.” She answered but
Morgan could not help but catch the truth, the scar was the cause of a fall
from a tree, but as the direct result of her being pushed by the girl he now
knew to be Dana.
He shook his head softly. “I’m sorry.” He wanted to rid
her of what she believed was shameful, but he was indecisive as to which of
them would be in the greater danger for it.
She nodded. ‘Not more than I am.’ “I’ll
get you those towels, now. She opened the door and quickly made her exit.
Morgan walked around surveying the place, making his way
to the chair, and as the thought of it running off entered his mind again,
poked at it with a laugh.
“Okay, it’s dead.” Sure now, he went to the piano and ran
his fingers across the keys, surprisingly, it was in tune and he couldn’t help
but play a short single-handed melody, the sound echoing off the walls. “Sound
Proof?” He asked himself. “Well that’s unfortunate, now how will I wake the
neighborhood?” He chuckled going to the window, realizing it did not open. His
attention was turned to the light knock at the door before it opened. The girl
coming back inside with a pile of white towels.
“Excuse me, I have these.” She lifted them up at him. “I
grabbed extra just in case, they are not very big.” She smiled a slight blush
rushing to her cheeks as she passed him into the bathroom.
‘Silly girl.’ “Thank
you; I didn’t catch your name.” He called in after her, staying at the window,
staring at the empty field below.
“Jessica, I’m sorry I completely forgot to mention it. ‘
How scatterbrained and rude of me.’
“It’s quite alright; I understand this was very last
minuet for you all, I hope I’m not putting anyone out.”
‘This isn’t about you, it’s about
Amara.’ “Not at all, it’s nice to have new people, we don’t
mind.” ‘At least I don’t.’
“O-kay, well thank you then.” Morgan answered as she went
back out the door.
“I’m sorry for this.” Morgan caught her whispered apology
as he heard the key turn in the lock outside. “But it’s for you’re own good.”
“She locked me in?” He laughed. “As if it mattered.” ‘Locks
don’t matter if the hinges are ripped off.’ “Oh well.” He sat on
the bed, it was larger in width but was still short in length, not that either
actually mattered to him. He slept sitting up, preferably on the floor, his
only concern having been the draft. The breeze would have wreaked havoc on his
concentration. His hypersensitivity to touch would have left him in a state not
easily fixed by the company in which he had placed himself. Amara was hard
pressed to even speak to him about sex, let alone part her legs for him. And of
course, there was the chastity belt...

About the Author:
I am the Co-Author to Awakenings: The Wrath Saga, a paranormal drama likened to Big Brother meets The Real World, of the Preternatural.
I'm currently working on the sequels to In Dreams... Due for release in 2014.
I have a mind that is easily distracted and prone to wandering. Tangents are my forte, and if you think my characters are going to fit a cookie cutter shape of any kind, think again. They live, they love, they eat, sleep and fuck. I believe that people are inherently sexual creatures and my characters be they human or something all together else are no exception.
I don't adhere to a single genera, I toe the line on several and wouldn't presume to be a master of any. So I suppose you could call me jack-of-all-trade-paperbacks.
I am a truth seeker, in my life, in my work. I’d apologize for it, but I kinda can't help m’self. It's my best and worse personality trait, well mostly, being Bi-Polar I guess you could say that is the worse. But I believe that the disorder has made me, well... Me.
I have taken this life and twisted, carved, shaped and molded it in to the worlds of my characters. Albeit with a chainsaw, and it has made all the difference
