On The Rox: Neither Here Nor There

I've always been one of those people that never quite fit in anywhere.

In school I was too nerdy and awkward to be one of the cool kids but not "geeky" enough to hang with the nerds. I was smart but not chess club or science experiments smart.

I have always been the creative thinker smart- artistic, creative, a writer, poet and artist. But I didn't even feel that I fit in with those people in high school and college. They always seemed so much "cooler", as if they understood something I never did.

Like all the arty movies, and cool music that I just thought was weird so I wasn't "cool" enough to hang with them and their clove cigarettes, odd movies and weird music.

I didn't even fit in with the Goths even though I could Goth is out when I wanted, the black lipstick and drama was too much for me all the time. Being an artistic soul, I love color.

My entire life I've went through this. I don't seem to fit snugly into any category, box and label. I am a very eclectic and eccentric person. Not one style, type of definition fit me and even if I find something that does, it could change the day.

At some point I started looking more deeply into Astrology and birth charts.

I found out a couple reasons why I may straddle the line in life, always being neither here nor there, never really fitting into any box or description.

The first oddity is that I was born at 12:42 am. So this put me in the AM category, but still solidly at night. So the first line I straddle is that of night and day as I tiptoe across the lines that separate and define yesterday, today and tomorrow. I think my time of birth is why I am a night owl.

The next line I straddle is that of summer and fall. Born on September 21 this puts me at the tail end of summer and hugging the first day of fall, this is according to the calendar and the fall equinox. Of course in the US our "summer" technically ends at Labor day then the kids go back to school and the summer tourist attractions close down, at least for us here in the Northern areas where September means the cold is coming back.

It also means the seasons are starting to change. By September 21 the colors are changing and Autumn is in full bloom. I love it, even as I ache for the passing of the summer sun.

I think being born at this time of year has made me a person that is always open to change and evolution because September is one of the months of the year where the biggest changes occur.

One of the final things that makes me neither here nor there is that I was born on the Cusp of Virgo and Libra. Sharing traits of both Astrological signs. Read below what all that can mean.

I think all of these oddities have led to me not fitting neatly into any box- and while I found that to be troublesome in my younger years I now fully embrace my uniqueness. And I have found other unique people that don't mind my oddities.

It took me over thirty years but I finally found a tribe.

What about you, what makes you unique? Or what about your oddities? Have you ever looked into finding meaning in your uniqueness?

About Being Born on the Virgo/Libra Cusp

From Daily Horoscope

"If you were born between about September 19 and September 24, you fall within the range of the Virgo-Libra Cusp, also known as “The Cusp of Beauty.” Individuals born on this cusp are ruled by both Mercury and Venus -- respectively, the planet of communication and the planet of love. Sounds like a pretty delightful combination, right? It is, indeed.

Beauty cuspers are balanced -- with sensitivities to both their internal and external worlds -- and they are deep thinkers who often are physically attractive, to boot. They are drawn to aesthetically pleasing people, objects, art and nature, and quick to keep up with the latest trends.

But not to worry if that sounds superficial -- the Mercurian Virgo influence balances the superficial stuff with a serious side that brings out sharp analytical skills and a strong work ethic. This is especially true of beauty cuspers as they grow older.

Is there a downside to any of this? Well, occasionally these cuspers pay such close attention to detail that they can become perfectionists. Also, being so balanced and able to see all sides of a situation can result in some slightly indecisive behavior."

From Always Astrology:

Virgo-Libra Cusp -
Your Sun Sign Personality

Vigo-Libra cusp
September 19 to September 24

"Those born on the Virgo-Libra cusp enjoy beauty and all things sensual. They may find themselves drawn to the arts, attractive people, and precious objects or wish to make themselves and their surroundings more pleasing to the eye. They have a great mind for details, and do a terrific job running a business or planning a large gathering because of this talent.

Virgo-Libra may be conflicted in some areas. While both signs Virgo and Libra are concerned with taste and aesthetics, they can lack in emotional or intuitive areas. They may find that what is pretty on the outside isn't so nice on the inside. Ultimately to be happy, they need to make the inside beautiful, too.

If they want to succeed, they should stop being so concerned with appearances. They should keep their search for beauty alive, and try to keep from becoming compulsive or cynical. They should not neglect their spirituality or get too caught up in materialism.

Virgo-Libra is responsible and they attempt to be as fair as possible. They are good team workers, but they can lack self-confidence. They are polite and open-minded, but they love a good debate. Kind and considerate, they rarely show their anger in public. Instead, they may use some subtle way to get even.

Virgo-Libra is health-conscious, which helps them take good care of themselves and their children. They like to exercise, though they do have a definite lazy streak. Think of the cat, stretched out in the sunny patch on the sofa: that is Virgo-Libra. Exercise is more appealing when they can socialize at the same time.

In love, those born on the Virgo-Libra cusp are romantic, devoted and playful. They pick up the important little details that delight their partner. They want a peaceful, harmonious relationship. They can see all sides of a situation which can make them very just, but can prove maddening to those around them at times.

They may have issues with being satisfied. No matter how good something is, they can still see flaws. If something is imperfect, they are inclined to get rid of it. Tiny flaws will eat at them until they can get them fixed.

Persons born on the cusp of Virgo-Libra are practical, hard working, diligent, meticulous, attractive, logical, charming, shy, modest, efficient, romantic, devoted and polite. They can also be unfair, aloof, easily influenced, self-indulgent, fussy, insecure, have hypochondriac tendencies and indecisive. The Cusp of Beauty sounds pleasant, but it can be a harsh taskmaster.

They love nature and their feet are firmly grounded. Their heads are still way up in the air, though. They may be artistic, or be able to design their home in the most aesthetic styles. They like science."
