Guest Blog and Giveaway with Carly Fall Author of Finding My Faith

Living versus existing – theme in stories

One recurring theme in the Six Savior Series is exploring the difference between living and existing. My Warriors have a tendency to just exist, focusing on nothing but the mission that they were sent for. They take little time to enjoy the things around them, to enjoy life, to live.

In Finding My Faith, my Warrior Rayner is particularly guilty of this. He is so focused on his mission of eradicating the evil from his planet he has been nicknamed the “workhorse” of the group. He is the all work and no play guy, until he meets Faith. She brings out the dormant part of him that used to do the living.

A lot of times, we get so caught up in the everyday mundane things that must be done, we also forget to live. The laundry, work, scrubbing toilets, helping kids with homework, cooking dinner…you get the idea. We forget to stop and enjoy the thing around us, and to do the things we enjoy.

I’m guilty of this as well. As I look outside my window at my once very full, very beautiful rose bushes that are now being over run by weeds, I not only feel bad for the roses, I’m a little upset with myself. I love taking care of those roses, but I have been so busy lately, they have been neglected. I have let my existing get in the way of my living, of doing the things I enjoy.

Is a clean toilet really that important? Does the house need to be immaculate? Probably not. Doing the things you like to do makes you a better person. You feel happier when you make time for yourself, and if you are happy, the people around you will be as well.

I’m going out to do a little living, and hopefully help those roses get back among the living as well.

Finding my Faith

By Carly Fall

Growing up in a small Northern Arizona town, Faith Cloudfoot’s life was spent playing in the forests surrounding her house under the protective eyes of her father, and learning about the legends of her Native American heritage.

Yearning for more out of her life, she moves to Phoenix, Arizona at the age of twenty-three where she is kidnapped and almost killed.

Rayner has a special ability, one that weighs on him like a curse. He can see spirits trapped in between life and their final resting place. Because he can’t do much to help them, he studiously ignores them. He concentrates, instead, on working with his fellow warriors to right the wrongs caused by the evil criminals from his home planet.

When Rayner sees Faith in her spirit form while investigating a lead in Phoenix, his attraction to her is immediate, yet he follows his own personal code and ignores her cry for attention. When he realizes that she may be a stepping stone to getting him home to his own universe, he engages Faith and begins to use her as a means to an end: going home.

As the attraction grows stronger, Rayner finds himself breaking all sorts of self-set rules, as well as the code of ethics set by him and his fellow warriors. When Faith nears death, Rayner realizes that he must do everything in his power to save her, because if he doesn’t, he may just lose himself.
