A Love Note to L.A. at Christmastime Guest Blog with Madison Martin

A Love Note to L.A. at Christmastime

L.A. has always been and will always be special to me. There’s an air of optimism in the city, and no matter how tough things are, there’s always a sense that anything can happen. I literally smell hope and possibilities in the air.

Where better to spend Christmas? I love decorations in Beverly Hills and at the malls. There’s a little chill in the air, enough to put on a light coat and maybe a pair of boots, but it’s never too chilly. Maybe there’s some rain, enough to curl up inside with a cup of tea. You can go anywhere. Do anything. Be anyone you want to be.

I had no other choice but to set Toying With Temptation in my favorite city. It’s a little subtle but it’s still embedded in there — my little love note to L.A. — especially at Christmastime. I pictured my hero and heroine on the Third Street Promenade sipping hot chocolate and buying Christmas decorations for the heroine’s sad little tree purchased at the last minute. I could see them in their high rise office buildings on Wilshire where they could look out their picture windows and see all the way to the ocean. I pictured them racing around downtown in the rain trying to pull their toy drive together. I pictured them curled up together in a coffee shop arguing over plans for the future. And having a dinner in a romantic restaurant in Brentwood while frantically going over last minute details for the toy drive. I could see them walking together on the pier in Santa Monica where they could feel the cool ocean breeze at night. With all this atmosphere and hope in the air, how could my hero and heroine not fall in love again? How could my heroine not come around to the happiness the holidays could bring her?

I may not be in L.A. this Christmas in person but I will definitely be there in my dreams.

What about you? If you could spend a fantasy Christmas away from home and could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Happy holidays, everyone, wherever you will be!
