What
inspired you to become an author?
I've always been into fantasy, at a very young age
one of the first books I ever read was the hobbit and I was always dreaming
away and making up stories and I think as I grew up that never seemed to leave
me. I prefer my dream world to reality. Reality is a lot harsher and unfair at
the best of the times, but in your own day dreams the world becomes what you
want from it.
How
did you come up with the title for your latest book?
It was originally going to be called fallen tears
but there was already a book out there called that. So after many days playing
around with the words fallen and tears I came up with Tears of the fallen.
Do
you title the book first or wait until after it’s complete?
I think half way through I decided it needed a name
other than, my story.
Is
there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
The message I wanted people to see was hope, and
that even if you reach the very darkest corners of your life that something
good can still enter your life and give you back your hope.
Is
the book, characters, or any scenes based on a true life experience, someone
you know, or events in your own life?
It’s not based on truth but I like to think there’s
a part of me in Amy that my friends and family would see.
What
books/authors have influenced your life?
James Herbert book the Others recently disturbed me
enough that now I’ve been unable to pick up another book of his. I’m a huge fan
of martina cole, and recently read the hunger games trilogy which was
fantastic.
What
book are you reading now?
I’m just about to start Lady killers by Martina
cole.
What
is your current “work in progress” or upcoming projects?
The third installment of the series, which I might
decide to call, The devil may cry. I haven’t decided yet.
Can
you share a little of your current work with us?
Guilt will play
a part in everyone’s life; the only difference between us all is the sin or lie
that determines the severity of the guilt. In my case, the sin was big and the
guilt that was manifesting itself from it was even bigger.
“I’m sorry Miss
Coleman, but the test results show that your HCG levels are dropping” the
nurse's voice paused for what seemed like a life time, but In reality, I
already knew what was coming, the baby was gone; I didn’t need her to tell me
that. She continued with her apologies
and the words that these things sometimes happen, but I wasn’t listening. These
things don’t just happen, well not to me anyway. I wasn’t like normal people I was tainted;
cursed; evil. It was my fault the baby was gone, only weeks ago I was planning
on taking its life myself, and now I was being punished for it, and that was
the exact moment; I felt the guilt climb up through my body and seduce my
soul.
Is
there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
Yes I suffer with slight dyslexia which is a real
challenge for me and my computer when it doesn’t understand what I’m writing
lol.
Who
is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their
work?
That would have to be Roald Dahl, I loved his
stories from a small child and still love to read them now.
Do
you have to travel much to do research for your books?
Only from my sofa to my daughter bedroom where she
normally hidden my laptop.
Who
designed the cover of your latest book?
My niece’s boyfriend designed the tears of the
fallen cover.
Do
you have any advice for other writers?
Don’t let people put you down and make you believe
you can’t achieve it. Prove them wrong that’s what I’m trying to do.
Do
you have a song or playlist (book soundtrack) that you think represents this
book?
Yes lots of songs, sweat disposition by temper trap
is one and Frankie goes to Hollywood the power off love.
