Interview and Giveaway with Kym Grosso

Thanks so much for hosting me on my book tour for my new release, Logan’s Acadian Wolves.  I really appreciate the opportunity to do an author interview.  It is great to be here with you and your readers!

1)     First, tell us about yourself – where you live, your family, and those sorts of details.

I live in Pennsylvania with my husband, two children, dog and cat. My hobbies include autism advocacy, reading, tennis, zumba, traveling and spending time with my husband and children.  I love traveling just about anywhere that has a beach or snow-covered mountains.

2)     How long have you been writing?

I’ve been writing for about five years.  In 2008, I began writing about autism on my own website and published articles in a few magazines.  Then after working on an article about divorce and autism, I began writing a blog for PsychologyToday.com.  In March 2012, I published my first romance novel, Kade’s Dark Embrace.

3)     Do you have a favorite place to write?

I’ll write just about any place as long as it’s quiet.   But most days, I write sitting in my family room.

4)     Why did you decide to write Logan’s Acadian Wolves?

Logan’s Acadian Wolves (Immortals of New Orleans, Book 4) is my latest release and is the next book in the Immortals of New Orleans series.  Logan was Tristan’s beta in Tristan’s Lyceum Wolves (Immortals of New Orleans, Book 3).  Without giving away spoilers, Logan found himself in an unfortunate predicament at the very end of Tristan’s book.  In Logan’s Acadian Wolves, he must rise to the challenges and struggles this new chapter of his life brings as well as find love.

5)     Who is your favorite character in your book and why?

I probably couldn’t pick just one.  I’m torn between Tristan and Logan.  They are both uber-sexy Alphas, who both have a great sense of humor.  Even though they are fictional characters, it is funny how they seem so real when I’m writing them.

6)     How about your least favorite character?  What makes them less appealing to you?

In the past, I would have said Etienne, only because he wasn’t well defined in Kade’s book.  I can’t say too much more without revealing spoilers.

7)     Do you proofread/edit your own books or do you get someone to do that for you?

I have my books professionally edited and then later, proofread.  I also have beta readers read my books prior to the official proofreading.  And after my book is professionally proofread, I give advance copies to street team members to read…the more eyes on it, the better.  As the author of the book, I just don’t catch typos the way others can, probably because I am so used to looking at the manuscript.

8)     What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

I’m a mom, so I spend a lot of time doing things with my kids.  I’m a wannabe tennis player who plays a few times a month with my friends but never finishes an actual game.  I also love going to zumba classes and reading.  But my favorite thing to do over the weekend is to relax with my husband on a Saturday night, finally getting some alone time with him after a busy week.

9)     Do you read much and if so who are your favorite authors?

I do read a lot, all kinds of romances.  As far as my favorite authors, that is such a difficult question, because there are so many great authors and series out there.  JR Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood is one of my favorite paranormal romance series.  It is an incredibly creative and emotional series of books.  Tina Folsom’s Scanguards series is also a must read for me when it comes to paranormal romance.  In other genres, Olivia Cunning’s Sinners series is another favorite as well as Masters of the Shadowlands series by Cherise Sinclair.  Victoria Danann’s Order of the Black Swan series is also a wonderful series.  Victoria was probably the first author I wrote a fangirl letter to, because I’d just read My Familiar Stranger and that’s how we became friends.   J

10)  Is there one question that you wish that you would be asked in an interview?

The question I love most is about research and how I incorporate it into my books.  While I do a lot of research online, it’s always much easier for me to write about what I know, what I’ve tasted, heard, smelled, seen, etc. There is nothing like the taste of a beignet or the feel of the crowd and street vendors throughout the French Quarter or the sound of street musicians.  During our many trips to New Orleans, my husband and I have done the haunted history/Voodoo/cemetery tours, eaten lots of Cajun and Creole seafood dishes, drank a hurricane (or two), toured the swamps and walked the French Quarter for hours.

When it comes to describing wolves, I visited a wolf sanctuary where I was able to learn more about wolf habitats, behavior, etc.  I also do online research about the wolves.  There are important details that I like to build into my stories.  All of the research helps me describe the scenes with the wolves, how they behave and interact so it reads “more real” so to spe
