What inspired you to become an author?
My parents have always been so encouraging in regards to
any of my endeavors. In fact, they were actually the ones who began my intense
love for reading, writing and the arts! As a child (and even now), books were
such a big part of our family. My parents fostered my longing and desire to not
only read, but write my own stories! I have them to thank for the inspiration.
Do you write in different genres?
I am known as an eclectic reader, so it comes as no
surprise that I’m an eclectic writer as well :) Though the Life Force Trilogy
is YA Paranormal Romance, I have already finished an Adult Horror novel and am
currently in the process of writing a Chick Lit and a YA Dystopian. Needless to
say, once my muse speaks out to me, I can’t shut her up!
If yes which is your favorite genre to write?
I don’t really have a specific genre that I favor, though
I must admit I tend to lean towards YA. That being said, it’s a lot of fun
writing adult books! I get be a bit a grittier and “dirtier.” There’s something
releasing about not having to censor yourself.
How did you come up with the title for your latest
book?
I actually get asked this a lot. I know the title “Green”
and the subsequent novels “Red” and “Silver” may seem like such simple titles.
However, these colors are greatly symbolic of vital elements in each of the
books. For example, Green is the color of the Life Force and the color of
Mattie’s ring. As for Red and Silver? Well, you have to read them to find out!
Do you title the book first or wait until after it’s
complete?
It all depends really. For example, I knew from the get
go what I wanted to name each novel in the Life Force trilogy. My horror novel
was the exact same way. However, my Chick Lit novel still remains unnamed! It’s
actually bugging me now that you mention it ;)
Is there a message in your novel that you want
readers to grasp?
The main theme of Green and all the novels in the Life
Force Trilogy is the importance of family. No matter what life throws your way,
your family will have your back. It goes for me and it goes for Mattie.
What book are you reading now?
I am currently reading Edge of Always by J.A. Redmerski
(love her!). I absolutely adored Edge of Never and had the most intense book
hangover upon completion. Words cannot express how happy I am that this sequel
came out! I needed my Andrew and Camryn fix!
What books are in your to read pile?
I have soooooooo many. You should check out my Kindle! I
have a bad “one-click” habit. I buy books faster than I can read them!
Who designed the cover of your latest book?
A little known fact about me is that I actually went to
art school! Though I had my BS in Psychology, I always had an immense love for
anything art. A few years ago, I was craving a career change and decided to
study Graphic Design. Though I am not currently working in Graphic Design, my
education helped me out in another aspect – designing my Cover Art!
